How to backwash

Backwashing should be done regularly.  It is best to backwash every week (or when your pressure gauge rises) or following a vacuum.  If the debris is especially heavy (like during spring cleanup) you may even have to backwash once while vacuuming!

To backwash a pool:

  1. Turn your pool pump off.  (Ensure your backwash hose is unrolled or open if necessary).
  2. Push down on the handle on your filter and turn it around to “backwash”.
  3. Turn your pool pump on.  You should backwash for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Turn your pool pump off.
  5. Push down on the handle of your filter and turn it to “rinse”.
  6. Turn your pool pump on. You should rinse for 30-45 seconds.
  7. Turn your pool pump off.
  8. Push down on the handle and rotate it back to “filter”.
  9. Turn your pool pump on.
  10. Relax. You’re done. Grab a drink and enjoy!
